About Stretch and Neurokinetic Therapy

Assisted Stretch Therapy is the art of stretching a client's body to relieve pain and increase mobility and flexibility. Stretch is ideal for people who have a desk job because your body is in the same position for hours at a time, shortening your muscles and compressing the back. Stretch Therapy will relieve clients from the compression and tight muscles.

Neurokinetic Therapy is a technique used by body workers to find the root cause of a patient's complaint. It is an application of Motor Control Theory, neuroscience, and functional anatomy (neurobiomechanics) developed by David Weinstock. This helps determine faulty movement patterns in the brain's motor control center. NKT can be used to assess and treat a variety of conditions. These include joint pain, neck or back pain, gait dysfunction, pre or post-surgical patients, some vestibular cases, hyoid dysfunction, TMJ, scars, post-cesarean section, and pelvic floor dysfunction.

Client Testimonials

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I was experiencing stiffness in the area of my hip flexor, so I decided to try stretch therapy with Nichole. After one session, I felt immediate relief. To help with ongoing flexibility, I decided to continue with regular upper and lower body stretch sessions. I highly recommend Nichole.

Nichole is an amazing stretch therapist! She's great at finding all the spots that need work, even spots I didn't realize needed stretching. Whenever I have a sore muscle, Nichole's my go-to gal. She's also great for relieving the tension in my shoulders; I can physically feel them lower when she stretches out my muscles.

FAQ

  • What Is Stretch Therapy?

Stretch therapy is a gentle, assisted method of stretching used to improve flexibility with a focus on the fascial chains and joint capsules.

  • What Do I Wear To My Stretch Therapy Sessions?

For your session, you'll remain clothed. It's best to wear something you can move around well in. Fitness apparel works well. Sports bras are recommended for women.

  • How Often Should I Get Stretch Therapy?

Each body is different. The first session you have will be used to figure out your starting point.

  • Who Should Get Stretch Therapy?

Everyone with a body! We all experience wear & tear on our bodies, and stretch can be a great part of managing that wear & tear. Athletes especially can benefit from an increase in flexibility & mobility, which will help reduce injury as well as improve general recovery time.

  • What does NKT stand for?

    NKT stands for Neurokinetic Therapy.

  • What is NKT?

NKT is a manual therapy that tests your core muscles to find the source of pain and correct it.

  • How does NKT work?

NKT was founded on the Motor Control Theory whereas your Motor Control Center which is located in the cerebellum (fill a need), on to the cerebral cortex (choose a route), before passing any information to the spine (move it) and onto the rest of the multi skeletal system (preforming).

Example: You need to tie your shoe? You choose how to tie your shoe. (Bend over? Use a chair? Leave them untied?) You choose the path of least resistance. You tie your shoe.

We will always choose the path of least resistance. Why? It’s easier because it may be painful another way. Does your leg hurt when you lift it? Does your back hurt when you bend over? NKT will first test core muscles to find dysfunction and fix it.

  • Do I have to get undressed for a session?

No. You should wear loose clothing such as a tank top and shorts.

  • How many sessions needed for a difference?

The first session can be very productive and be all you need. However, we judge on a case to case basis because everyone is different. And it matters how long you have been in pain. The first 6 weeks, your pain is acute and starts to build scar tissue. The sooner I can get to your issue is best for you and your progress. After 6 weeks, your pain becomes chronic because of the scar tissue.

Alleviate your chronic pain with our stretch therapy sessions.
